NEW SERIES OF WORKS IN PROGRESSSinging Bridges 10th Anniversary SculptureSinging Bridges is an urban sonic sculpture on a global scale, making music with the sound of bridges. Placing contact microphones directly on the cables, Jodi Rose records and composes with the sound from inside the bridge, hearing the voice of the structure as wind, traffic and tension create vibrations. Originally from Sydney and based since 2007 in Berlin, Rose has recorded and played over 60 bridges worldwide, collaborating and connecting with local artists, musicians, engineers and architects to create site-specific works, concerts, installations and events. April 2012 is the tenth anniversary of Rose's first trip to record bridges, and she is celebrating by working on interconnected visual and sound elements giving new dimensions to Singing Bridges. The Singing Bridge Sculpture is a series of elegant bridge silhouettes designed by Jodi Rose, with a specially composed soundscape made from her bridge recordings played through electronics custom-built by Andy Holtin. The UFO Bridge Sculpture, based on the Novy Most in Bratislava is the first in a series of seven limited edition bridge designs, compositions and visual works. Jodi Rose says: “I am truly excited about making this sculpture to transmit the rich and diverse sonic experience, to celebrate Singing Bridges through a visual and sonic design for bridge lovers.” Singing Bridges is a poetic work that helps transform our perception and experience of the world by tuning in to the intangible. Connecting people, places and cultures, bridges are always singing, all we need to do is stop and listen. More than the acoustic properties or harmonics in the wires, the sound is the spirit of the bridge, it's voice released through the vibrations in the cables across the globe. Imagine the voices of bridges around the world singing together in an Acoustic Indra's net. Your generous support for the Singing Bridges IndieGOGO peer funding campaign is a wonderful opportunity to help continue the creation of this extraordinary cultural project. Robyn Ravlich, Executive Producer Audio Arts Unit, ABC Radio Australia: "Bridges have become a beautiful obsession for artist Jodi Rose, since her college days when she observed Sydney’s Anzac Bridge being built and speculated that its giant cables would vibrate with sound like a giant Aeolian harp." Jodi Rose: "I've heard the bridges singing!"

BRIDGE LOVERS
Singing Bridges is an urban sonic sculpture, listening to the cables of bridges around the world as instruments in a musical symphony. Echoing the telecommunications wires circling the earth, the cables of suspension and stay-cabled bridges reverberate with unexpected sounds, each structure creating a unique texture, rhythm and sonic environment. The sound of the cables is the voice of the bridges, calling out their concrete music, the vibrations telling stories from the life and memory of the structure.
